Apostle song

This is catchy. Enjoy.
Leave a CommentYep. Eric’s gone to Europe again! Leaving me all alone! Well, it’s only been one day. It’s alright. After last trip, I think I’ve gotten used to the idea. Hopefully this will be the last time.
I thought about joining him for a week or so. But I just can’t bear to leave my students with a substitute teacher! We’re working on our Spring Program right now. It’s kinda like a talent show that the students have to perform. There are lines to say, songs to sing, and dances to dance to! I have to work together with the music teacher, and PE teacher. They help teach the songs and choreograph dance movements. We also have to work on props and costumes and other hand movements. I’m teaching my students sign language to go with one of the songs they’re singing. So, if I leave to join Eric for a while, we’ll have one less week than other classes to work on our Spring Program. Since this is my first year managing this Spring Program, I’m making up a lot as I go along. So, bottom line is, I can’t leave work.
Sigh, I guess I’m too much dedicated to work! Some days I feel it’s really demanding. But other days I feel that what I do is really rewarding! I’m the type of person that can’t bear to leave something done half way.
Anyhow, 5 weeks will go by really fast. In the mean time, I’ll just bury myself in work!
2 CommentsI still haven’t posted the rest of the photos from the first time I went to Europe…and it doesn’t look like I will before I leave for another business trip to Europe. I think I’ll try and copy the photos to the laptop that I’m bringing with me and maybe organize them on the flight over there. My plan right now is to get some work done too. Honestly though, I doubt I’ll do either. I’m flying British Airways this time and my expectations for their in-flight entertainment is fairly low at this point, but who knows it may be decent enough that I get nothing done but eat, sleep, and watch movies (much how I’d like life to be right now).
Leave a CommentOver the last few weeks, I’ve been wanting to make some changes to our blog and our website. My reason is because new versions of Gallery2 (which we use to host our photo albums) and WordPress (which powers this blog) were released since we started our blog. Really though, I just needed something to take my mind of work and as much as I don’t want to admit it, programming is actually a nice little escape for me 😕 (I know, I know, I’m a nerd).
So while the version updates probably don’t leave much of a difference for those of you who visit our site, we also took the opportunity to change the name and style of our blog. Sharn wasn’t happy anymore with “Eric and Sharn’s Life”, so welcome to “OUR MONKEY BUSINESS”! We think the title reflects our lives a bit better 😆
Kudos to my cousin Rita for helping us find a good monkey pic to use in our header to go along with a photo of San Fran that Sharn took last summer. As part of the change, I’ll be cleaning up our categories/tags (I think the list is getting kind of long).
If things don’t work…blame me! Honestly though, if I broke something in the upgrade, let me know.
1 CommentSharn and I finally got an annual check-up done a couple of weeks ago 🙂 I think it’s probably the first since who knows when (I think my last one was right before my mission). We really like our doctor. He graduated from BYU for his undergrad just like us! He actually practices western and eastern medicine. So as a result of our annual checkup (I have slightly high blood pressure), we’re not getting cupping done and yesterday we tried acupuncture. The two combined are supposed to help me lower my blood pressure, relieve our stress, help with the pain from my snow-boarding injury last year, and help the overall circulation and health.
If you don’t know what cupping is, basically it’s a cup that’s put against your back and creates suction on your skin to draw the impurities and waste build-up in your cells to the surface. This will help your body to become aware of it and take corrective action to cleanse itself thereby promoting overall health. Personally, I do feel more relaxed afterwards and I feel less tension in my muscles, kind of like after a massage. But actually getting the cupping done KILLS!@!@! Depending on how much waste/impurities there are, it will change how much it hurts and how dark your skin turns. Mine’s a lot worse than Sharn’s so my back is a really dark purple color. As it improves, it should hurt less and not turn color as much. Let’s see if I can survive! 😀

Ok, enough of Eric’s fun Europe trip. He’s been back for about 3 weeks now. He still has yet to lose the weight he gained while he was there! Yikes!
So, since he’s been back, we’ve had sushi every weekend now. Don’t know why, but he’s had this craving for sushi recently. But we discovered this really awesome Japanese restaurant. Food is great, very authentic!
As for me, I’m sad that my one week spring break is over! It’s back to work again until the end of the semester. But I’m glad for the one week break. I got so much done! I finally put together our 72 hour kit. Yay!! I’m proud of myself for that one. And I also finally found us doctors and dentists that we can go to. We went to the doctor today, and we’re in pretty good health. Our doctor mixes western and eastern style of treatment. Next week, we are actually going to do cupping for the first time. That would be interesting. We also went to the dentist, today. As usual, my teeth is perfect. 😀 But Eric’s, that’s a different story. He’ll have to go back 2 more times to get fillings done. The dentist said my good teeth probably has to do with the fact that I grew up drinking flouridated water in Singapore. Yay for Singapore water!
Oh! And one more exciting thing for me. My school’s curriculum department asked for a copy of my spring program that I wrote for my class. Spring program is a music performance put up by every class. Us teachers have to pick songs and write the script. So, I guess I did a good enough job that they’re going to use my script for future reference to other teachers. Yay for me! I was quite excited about that.
2 CommentsI took a ton of photos while I was in Europe to show Sharn so she could kinda feel like she went. Of course many of them didn’t turn out very well 🙂 But I also took a bunch of photos of my meals. Some cause they were different or unique to the area, and some just cause! I certainly ate enough while I was over there to justify a tour of Europe through food. Hahaha…so I’ve picked out the photos that didn’t turn out too bad considering that I took them with my cell phone (most aren’t the greatest though) and put them into a nice little flash photo album
Click HERE to enjoy my little trip 😀
2 CommentsArrived back in the US on Sat. Not too badly jet-lagged, or else it’s so bad that I can’t tell anymore. I don’t think having a conference call for work at 3am did anything to help my sleeping habits either. But I’m really glad to be home. Finally got to see Sharn after 6 weeks away 🙂

So, in Germany and Switzerland, there’s a song that keeps on playing on MTV at night and dang it, it’s stuck in my head even though it’s been two weeks since I last heard it. So I’ve gone to the extreme lengths of getting on YouTube and looking for it…
I think the parts of the video where there’s no animation is cause of copyright or something cause all of the non-“official” videos have still parts in them. Here’s a link to the complete animated video on YouTube that they wouldn’t let me embed here 🙂
1 CommentYeah, yeah. Cool for Eric! 🙁 I’ve always wanted to go to Europe, but have never been! And because of this trip, I’ll probably won’t be going any time soon either. Eric’s spent so much sightseeing on this trip already! Grr… While I’m home everyday after work and haven’t eaten out this past 5 weeks, Eric’s eating out and getting fatter! Tsk tsk… I’ve actually gotten healthier since Eric left on this trip. I’ve been working out and eating healthy. Lost some weight 🙂 Yay! I hope I can stay like this and influence Eric to be healthy with me too!
It’s the end of the 2nd trimester in school. So right now, I’m busy computing grades and preparing report cards. We’re still very primitive here. Grades are computed with paper, pen, and my reliable calculator. Next year our school will start using a computer program. *Shudder** Technology!
